Oops scratch that part of about "I'm beginning to think it's something clutch related if the car can pull forward a bit."

If the problem was clutch engagement, the car wouldn't jerk forward or reverse. I'm pretty sure it is clutch related though since you can shift into gears but the car doesn't want to move. Otherwise the car would stall if your clutch was good. Hmm how does the shifting feel like? Is it sloppy? Your tranny could be stuck in neutral.
