You said the car doesn't go forward. Does it have reverse? Also, I'm beginning to think it's something clutch related if the car can pull forward a bit.

Well before you run off and buy another tranny, when you get your current tranny out of the car, shift into a gear and turn the input shaft and see if the output shaft turns, if not then you'll need a new tranny.
