I've heard something like that before (Toothpaste) but not for the Headlights. I read it somewhere, people use it to clean up theirs wrist watch (glass).

Perhaps it would do the same trick.

Give the Toothpaste a try, nothing to lose but your Headlight might smell like a "Toothpaste" for a while.
