1991 Accord EX problems, jumping tach
Hey guys, I've been having trouble with my Accord lately and I'm desperate for a fix.
About a month ago, my tach started jumping erratically once I hit about 4k RPMs. No check engine light on, but it felt like I lost a bit of power when it happened.
First thing that crossed my mind was a tuneup, possibly there's a lose wire to the distributor. So I go ahead and replace the spark plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap, but that doesn't help.
So I checked my service manual, and didn't see anything. At this point I decided it would be worth it to head to a mechanic, and I took the car to a Honda/Acura specialist. They replaced the ignition coil and sent me on my way - the car ran great, no problems whatsoever.
But now, a few weeks later, I'm seeing the same symptoms (but a bit less noticable). I was wondering if the distributor itself could be shot, but the thing is under 2 years old. Could there be something that's causing the ignition coil to just burn out? Replacing the ignition coil definitely seemed to do something, but I'm wondering if that was a symptom of another problem...
TIA!
