I have about 17k miles on my '07 Si and have yet to switch over to synthetic. If and when I do switch I will probably go with Mobil 1, as I've heard a lot of good things from people that have used it.

If it gets fairly cold where you live, Mobil 1 would be my pick as they provide 0w-20,30,40 while others don't, to my knowledge. Mobil is reputed to be good stuff, Valvoline gets some of their base oils from them. Some of the Genuine Honda oil products are either manufactured by Mobil or, again, use their base oils.

x2 on the Mobil 1. And if you can afford it, get Lucas or Royal Purple.

Well I recently gave my car an oil and filter change using Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic oil. I actually did look for Mobil 1 Synthetic but the stores I went to were sold out; Royal Purple was very limited or too viscous. I eventually decided to just used Pennzoil and figured it couldn't be that bad, I even went ahead and got the "Platinum" version, I did manage to get a Mobile 1 oil filter though. The next oil change will definitely be with Mobile 1 synthetic. Thanks for your input.

ewww Pennzoil...more like Parafinoil.

Mobil makes all of Honda's fluids. They are also the rec. oil by Honda for all vehicles that require synthetic oil.

That being said I run royal purple with Honda filter, or Mobil 1 snth with Honda filter. I would never run pennz or valvoline...ever.

I have always run Mobil 1 in all my cars.

I get a lot of flack from my friends when I buy Mobil 1 oil filters, but i kept buying them after someone i knew bought a bunch of filters and cut them apart. It was amazing how much more filtering material is in a Mobil 1 filter....so i keep buying them

what specifically is wrong with pennz or valvoline?

its pretty well known in the evo community, that given the same oil rating and weight, that some oil brands make more power during dyno testing...same car same day same hour etc. dont actually have any hard data at work, but a good evo friend has his own shop/dyno, and he's seen it all.

it was kind of disappointing to see Redline and Mobil 1 fare pretty low compared to other brands. However, Royal Purple and Eneos rate at the top as far as hp and tq output goes.

as far as actual protection and lubricity factors go, thats another ball game..
