Default F22B1 Build Up Question...

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to this board so go easy on me I was just wondering if anyone here has built up the internals of an F22B1 engine and what the specs of it where (also if you put a turbo on it after that). I just bought a 95' Honda Accord EX and am contemplating between keeping the engine in there or getting an H22 and building that one up. Any help is greatly appreciated...thank you

it would be more worthwhile to build and boost a h22, but i think that i'd be more fun to kill the crap otu of DOHC's with a SOHC engine

not to mention a boosted built SOHC is prolly slightly more original...

yeah it would be fun to take my SOHC engine and beat a DOHC engine. I was just wondering if anyone had done this...because the way that I see it is this. By the time I buy an H22a, it's going to be like $1500-2000 and for that much, I could buy/build a turbo setup for my F22. Plus then I would have to build up the internals of the H22 and buy a turbo setup for it. So, for about 1/2 the money it would take to build up the H22, I could build up my F22. Plus I'm on a tight budget so the F22 is a better option in that respect too.

Yeah. Wesside also has a video in his signature that shows his car run (recorded his dash) and it's awesome. I watched that video like 10 times and saved it on my computer at work. It's inspirational. LoL. Definately makes me wanna do the h22 swap.

when talking about these things, you have to see what is your budget. I mean, fast, reliable and cheap don't go togther.

If your aim is for the 300whp daily or lower, you can save the swap money and turbo the F series. Internal work is also required. But if you aim for something like 350whp daily or more at track, an fully built H22 is the only way to go. H22 swap into an accord is not that fast. Trust me, I had it + 75 dry shot and still seems slow.

If you're willing to drop anywhere from $4000-$5000, F22 built + custom turbo setup will help you achieve the dream. Anything under $3000 is only good for a swap. If you have a money pit ($8000+) then I suggest you built a h22 + turbo. Then again, there are lots of things to learn.

Don't forget that there are many other things involved, not just the engine alone. Fuel management, drive train, suspension, chasis, etc. Which can easily double or triple the cost I've listed above (which I assumed that you can get the cheapest.)

If money is not your friend nor you want any super fast car then just get a swap and call it aday. Otherwise, save up and invest into a faster new car which is more reliable and fun.

H22a man... cause once you get the turbo in ur F22b1 thats it, your motor is maxed out pretty much. plus turbo's require alot of maintenance from what i hear. i would go with an H22a cause that way you got the speed, and you can still later on get a turbo and get more power out of it that you could ever get out of ur SOHC

:jlammy: Yeah its costly i put about 4000 in my motor built already...but the accord stock motor can handle about 8 psi max, which with the right tuning you can bump it up to about 10-12 psi...quote" the right tuning" if tuned professionally, where there is almost or no detonation...you will be fine...I blew my motor running 9.83 psi, i forgot to ziptie the vac. lines on the manifold and detonated.....(imaidoit)...but its all preference, its about equal when it comes to boosting a stock motor or swaps...its all preference...any modifying hurts the POCKETS....

fully built f22b2 (same exact block as f22b1) at 14psi making 321whp/327wtq. after he knocks out some tuning/ignition issues i think hes gonna dyno tune high boost #'s. 400whp looks easy.

f22 can handle more than 8psi as long as its tuned properly and not on some ghetto rigged POS afc hack or FMU. theres quite a few cats on AD boosting 10psi daily and 12-14psi for track.
