Default Autocross school and competition this weekend at Carlisle Fairgrounds.

Don't know how many people would be interested but Appalachian Sports Car Club in conjuntion with Carlisle Fairgrounds is hosting an autocross school (Saturday) and competition (Sunday).

Info here: http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/sched...rt/schedule.asp

SCCA Drivers’ School and Driving Experience
Learn about your car’s potential and your ability to manage it. The Susquehanna Region of the SCCA and its chapter club, The Appalachian Sports Car Club, will conduct a drivers’ school on Saturday and an autocross on Sunday during the show weekend. The activity is held on the Carlisle Fairground’s quarter-mile six-turn mini-road course.

If you have never put a wheel on a track before, the school will help you learn something about your car’s potential and your ability to manage it. If you do have some track experience, the school will give you the opportunity to learn more and to improve your performance.

Your school session will begin with a briefing that will cover safety, cornering, braking, power application and smoothness. Then you will take your car onto the course with an instructor who will help you apply what you have learned during the briefing. The objective will be to improve your comfort level, your skills and your performance. You will have the opportunity to run a number of sessions on the course with your instructor for a total of about 30 laps.

The autocross will use the same course as Saturday’s drivers’ school. Each entrant will get two practice sessions as well as a three-lap run against the clock. Scoring will be done on an overall basis, using a PAX/RTP index designed to adjust for the performance capabilities of different cars.

The charge for each day is $20. When you register, you will choose a specific time slot for each day. Registration by time slot will reduce the waiting time and will insure that everyone gets the track time they expect. To insure getting a time slot of your choice, register early at the SCCA tent located next to the track.

Arrive at the track and check in at least 30 minutes prior to the start time for your session to allow time for sign up and a basic inspection of your car.

Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Helmets are required so bring your own or use one of our loaner helmets.

The following is the schedule for the weekend subject to weather:

Friday Registration - 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Saturday Registration - 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Saturday Drivers' School Sessions - Eight drivers per session maximum
Session 1 - 10 a.m.
Session 2 - 11 a.m.
Session 3 - 12:30 p.m.
Session 4 - 1:30 p.m.

Sunday Registration - 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Sunday Autocross Sessions - Ten drivers per session maximum
Session 1 - 10 a.m.
Session 2 - 11 a.m.
Session 3 - 12:30 p.m.
Session 4 - 1:30 p.m.
Session 5 - 2:30 p.m.

Note: Registration will close when the sessions are filled.

About 1-1.5 hours. Depends on how many people we get for each session.

Last year we had like 10 students the whole day. So we extended each session.

Last year this car's brakes caught on fire! Looks like it was going to do it again.

Totally gutted Subaru SVX. I got to drive this car several times and it's fast and fun
