I havn't been to an event yet, but I'm eager to know how one can help out at an autocross meet. Other than just cleaning up the course when the event is over and other common courtesies, is there an official way I can volunteer at an SCCA event? I've been looking for a fun way to get some community service hours in a field that I have a "passion" for, rather than just raking silly leaves
I think it’d be a great to get experience and an overall nice way to spend a weekend.
edit: I tried poking around my regions website, I think it's best to just email the executive.

autox is a run and work event. meaning if you run you have to work. you can help in the timing trailer, or cone chaser on the course, help with registration desk, waiver bitch at the gate, etc.
besides that they usually look for people to volunteer with various different things. best way is to e-mail the person/people in charge of the autox events and offer your time.

showing up is half the battle!
there's always something that needs done. Just make yourself available, and when someone is on the PA asking for a volunteer to chalk cones or help clean up....there's your chance!

its usually really informal and friendly, when you show up for your first autox you'll find out that pretty much everyone will be put to work whenever they're not running, as they become familiar with you they'll give you more responsibilities
