ok i think i might have a problem. as i was reading the 2005 rulebook to check on roll bar requirements i noticed something about steering wheels that im not sure i understand. in the STS class, i noticed that i can use an aftemarket steering wheel of any diameter. cool. but then in like fine print it said something about airbags. do i need to have a steering wheel with an airbag? if so i think im ****ed...

 

If your car comes with an air bag you cannot change it. Unless you find another one that has an air bag too.

 

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! is that to stay in the STS class or to pass tech? i have a momo monte carlo wheel and i was so pumped about my first auto-x event...

so when i go to the novice school on the 16th at atco, they'll still let me participate? i really want to do this driver school but i wont be able to get an airbag wheel before the 16th.

For a novice school it doesn't matter. You are not competiting you are there to learn. But I'm pretty sure South NJ region will not care about your steering wheel. Ask the other STS competitors or the autocross chief.

It's not going to stop you from any autocross. But your competitors in your class if you decide to run in STS can protest you to the appropriate class.
