Default Any SF Bay Area autox people here?

Does anyone on this forum autox in the San Francisco bay area?

I'd like to start and wanted to chat with someone who does it around here.

what do you want to know?

there are 2 regions near by. SF and Sacramento.
http://www.sfrscca.org/solo2/

SF requires you to be a member of SCCA before you can run (not sure if they will wave it for this year or not). They usually hold events in Albany, Oakland, SF, Marina(near Monterey).

Sacramento doesn't require membership to SCCA and hold all their events at Stockton Fair Grounds.

Sacramento region gets started later in the year and their schedule will be posted when it's done.

Sweet! Thanks for the responses! I just got a bunch of questions answered elsewhere. But I do have a few local ones.

So it looks like I'm gonna have to enter STS (due to my parts) even though me and my car are probably hardly even competitive in stock. Just wondering how "busy" SCCA is in the bay area now. I've got a family and need to know how much time to actually block out and when.

I don't have a helmet, but I just want to try this stuff out a bit.

I saw they have a "trial membership" for $25; so I'm thinking about that.

Summer is probably when I'd be able to try it out.

I'm a little intimidated. I know I'm gonna suck big time, and so far my car has been mostly made up for daily commuting.

Don't worry we were all a little intimidated and we all sucked our 1st time. It's like any sport you just "jump" into.

not sure what you mean by busy but SF region hold event 10 months out of the year. Last year during the 1st 2 events over 350cars showed up but after the 5th event the number dropped to about 250ish.

Not having a helmet is not a problem. They have loaner helmets. I would try the 3rd -5th events for your first time since less people show up after the first two events.

No need to be intimidated, every one is very friendly and willing to help. Usually those that are not are first timer that think they're going to be the hottest shit on the course. They are quickly humbled.

Doesn't matter if you suck or not. We all sucked (I still do), the important thing is you're having fun.

So so true I remember my friends and I showing up to one of our 1st events and we were dogging a Subaru Impreza GT wagon. Little did I know it was being driven by Richard West (a really good driver), and he killed my modified Civic by like 10 seconds that day. I was humbled to say the least

Wasn't there a $30 SCCA trial membership somewhere?

Also, I'm looking at the SF. CA Champ Rnd 3 and 5 on 3/20 and 3/27 (oakland). Are these the one I start at? Do I get to start in the "novice" class?

My car falls under HS under STS, right?

How much time am I looking at for the 3/20,27 days? (Like when do I arrive to when do I get to go home; got a family...)

There is no HS under STS. You are either in HS or STS.
