heel-toe downshifting
I practice whenever I approach a redlight. In order to keep up the mpg's, I typically shift early, so most of the time I get at least two heel-toe downshifts before coming to a stop. It is hard to learn, and I agree that practice blipping the throttle in non-braking situations is a good idea to get used to getting the revs up with one fast blip.
