They actually made an RV-8 MG that used a rover v-8, not a jag engine, and I've yet to run across an MG that would come in under 2k lbs, even in full race trim, let alone squeak in under the weight of my car. The only cars that came close to that low of a weight was the T-series MG's, where they used wood instead of steel for the carriage.

than these ****ers online have some whack ass ideas on their cars. they swear to god theyre in the 1400-1700 lb range. The jag engine was a hybrid the guy did by hand.
Along the british roadster tangent, a freind of mine has a Triumph Spitfire he built up for mod. He built the tube/sheet frame himself, it has a fiberglass/plastic body and is powered by a buick small-block V8. I guess very little of it is still Triumph, still a very impressive car.

at the canadian border my dad reports the austin healey was at 1328lbs, the original owners manual reports 660kg, (1455lbs). The original owners manual on the midget reports 1849lbs, and thats with the 1.5L Triumph Spitfire engine.
Both cars are completely stock.
