stock and SP auto-x setups
I'm working on obtaining an '89 CRX Si. I would set it up for stock or street prepared auto-x duties as well as occasional track days. Can someone give me a synopsis of the 'ideal' stock and SP setups for these particular cars? shocks, swaybars, bushings, springs, engine bolt-ons, brake pads, wheel sizes, etc. brand names and expected prices would also be helpful. I'm expecting typical front swaybar, koni SA's, coil overs, exhaust, and header are the norm.
For stock you gotta stick with mostly stock.
That's about it. You should pick up a SCCA Solo II handbook.
If you get into SP there is no one perfect setup. Some people it takes years to develop and it gets expensive.
- cat back exhaust
- DOT R tires on stock rims
- brake pads
- front sway bar
- spark plug and wires
- any fluids
- 4 or 5 point harness
That's about it. You should pick up a SCCA Solo II handbook.
If you get into SP there is no one perfect setup. Some people it takes years to develop and it gets expensive.

I know what modifications are possible in stock and SP. I've been auto-xing for quite some time, just w/ an F-body. I'm an SCCA member and I already have a handbook. I was actually referring to what specific modifications are idea for CRX's. stock: which brand of shocks; koni, tokico, bilstein? which front swaybar?
SP: shocks? swaybar? brand of poly bushings? brand of coilovers; Globalwest, or ground control? spring rates? etc.
SP: shocks? swaybar? brand of poly bushings? brand of coilovers; Globalwest, or ground control? spring rates? etc.
If you know what modifications are possible then why ask? you know there are limitless variables between everything. There is no "ONE" specific setup. You gotta experiment like the rest of us
