Peugeot as a car maker?
They are the number 1 car maker in Europe, but all I remember of them are cheap cars like the 205. Nothing really exiting at all (in production car).
Do you like their currents car models, how reliable are they (compare to lets say Toyotas and Hondas). What's so exiting about them now beside the 307cc.

All I have to say is that I LOVE Seats, not the ones you sit on, the car manufacturer called Seat. Awesome styling on their cars, especially hatches.

Apathy Kills
They are wonderful cars. My family has owned Peugeots for nearly 40 years...going back to the 403. The 403 was followed by a 504 in 1976, an '84 505 STI in 1985, and it was joined by an '89 405 Mi16 in 1994.
I drove the last two cars quite regularly - both manual transmission, obviously - and I miss them both terribly. :wtc: The handling precision, the differing characters of each car. Mmmm.
The 505 STI was a torquey mother. Petrol OHV I-4, 2250cc, 135hp/ 187tq, RWD. A bit on the heavy side though. It was the GT cruising sedan of the pair. Long, long gearing.
OTOH, the 405 Mi16 was much more frenetic and sporty. DOHC, 1899cc. 155hp/121tq, FWD. While still offering an amazing amount of ride comfort, it also had literally telepathic steering feel and great chassis control. Not to mention one of the sexiest engine notes ever. And the Pininfarina designed body still turned heads ten years on.
The only reason we sold the cars was the fact that most of the Peugeot mechanics in our area were either retiring or passing away. Otherwise, I would have kept the 505 to begin a 2.2L DOHC Turbo swap.

it's my D in a B
peugeot makes some pretty decent cars. On par with alfa romeo, and some volvos/audis... most of them are econo-cars tho. The 206's ruled in WRC because they had MAJOR fund$$$ to hire the best drivers/crews/management.. they spent like twice what most of their competitors spent in 01-02
