How do u stop popups with xp?
What kind of popups?
Are they the ones that are just a message and you hit ok? Don't get a program to stop those. it's a service in windows that shouldn't be running, just have to stop it and they are done.

edit:
right click on my computer
click on manage
click on the + next to services and applications (left hand side)
click on services just under it
on the right hand side, look for "Messenger"
right click on it and click on properties.
click on the STOP button
then change the Startup Type to either Manual or Disabled, doesn't matter.
that's it... your' done have fun.
I got hit by a popup virus that was using my computer to spam others. Installed new firewall and antivirus as well as adaware. Had a superbar show up on my toolbar that I didn't install. Had to disconnect from the web to use the computer and search the registries. Got it at a site that I use to check the lottery numbers, first popups were all casinos.
