I drove one once, a friend of mine was drunk and I drove his truck for him. It is ok, but I can think of a lot of other trucks I would want to buy instead

this is one of our choices because out of the other one on our list this one cost about 3k less.
here's our lists from #1 being our top choice:
1. toyota 4runner sr5
2. toyota highlander
3. nissan pathfinder se
4. nissan xterra
5. suzuki xl 7
6. mitsubishi montero sport
7. mazda tribute

i know some of the cars on the list wont be appealing to others but we're considering $$$ because of the baby. thanks!

no, I don't like SUVs. Plus there are ones that are less bad.

Realistically, why an SUV?

If you're planning on buying new, which is what this sounds like, why not buy a sport-wagon, like an previous- gen A4 1.8t Avant, Passat, 9-5 Aero or a previous generation S4 Avant....

I personally wouldn't trade in on an enjoyable driving experience just for ground clearance that probably won't be put to use.
:dunno:

Oh, and BTW, the Ford Escape / Mazda Tribute were recalled 4 times in the first year of production. :eh:
