Yeah my old laptop (IBM Thinkpad 600) has a broken screen so I am going to give it to my daughter.

So since giving someone a laptop with a broken screen is pretty cheesy I have decided I am going to remove the screen from the laptop and have it run as a self contained desktop with an external monitor.

Since she is 12 now and in junior high she needs a computer for some of her work and although its not a screaming fast comp it will get the job done.

What processor does it have? I have an old Dell XPi laptop with an orignal pentium 120Mhz and I put an extra 32M of Memory in it, new 6G HD and a new floppy (old one died) and installed Win98SE to make a little wifi portable TV computer and the PCMCIA slots fail. It's just sitting in a pile of parts now and I bought Inspiron 8200 with a build it Wifi chip.

The Thinkpad is an old PII(?) 300 it has PCMCIA slots that still work, actually it is 100% functional and I wouldn't have replaced it if not for the screen being cracked

 

I would kill him if he started talking shit about my daughter...some things are just best left alone and this is one of them.
