You can find 5-8 year old models with under 50k miles for $20k-$30k. I know that they are expensive to maintain but so are all luxury/sports cars. I have heard that the Cambiocorsa models (the F1 style tranny) is unreliable and around $20k to replace but the GT model with the 6spd manual is cheaper and doesn't seem to have any issues. So why shouldn't I get one when I graduate/get a job?

Jon pretty much nailed it. And if that isn't good enough reason, because you can get a camry and and put that extra insurance and maintenance money into your porn collection.

I have very little student loans and my house will be paid off in 5 years. Does this change anything?

Aside from the maintenance, I'd worry about insurance rates. If it weren't for the insurance, I could probably start my midlife crisis early and get a Corvette (or a used 911), but I prefer being at ~$1,000 a year for two vehicles rather than >$4,000 a year for one vehicle right now. Thus, I will actually have to wait until midlife (which is approaching faster than I thought it would).
