didn't get in first time around. GPA was above average but my MCAT was only OK. I also only applied to 2 schools since I didn't want to leave Maryland. Hopkins and University of Maryland are both very good schools so I wasn't super surprised when I didn't get in. I probably would have gotten in somewhere if I applied to more schools. My wife and I talked it over and instead of waiting another year, retaking the MCAT's and reapplying with no guarantee of getting in I decided to try to get into PA school. I got in first try. My wife was happier with PA school because it is 2 years and there is no residency so we can start a family sooner.

Good reasons. Hopkins is obviously insane to get into. My boss was wait listed, then accepted (with a 4.0 and 39). It's too bad you couldn't relocate, because I bet you could have gained multiple acceptances elsewhere. Johnny Hop requires allstars.

But if you're happy, you're happy. I've thought about PA school but it would be a major kick in the ass for me seeing what I wanted to do every day. If I go two or three cycles without an acceptance (I doubt that) I'll probably look Podiatry then PA.

I'm just looking at state MD and DO schools, though.

If he truly makes that much per month he's on the low end of the spectrum for Oral maxillofacial surgeons. They can hit half a mil pretty easily.

This, they make avg salary of 500k. They deserve it because they go through a shitload of schooling, they have both dental and medical degree.

Just met a guy who finished up schooling. You go through DDS school, then get a residency, and at the end of the residency they just slap you with a MD/DO once you pass your boards. So realistically, it's less schooling than most MD/DO specialties.

yeah some of the classes overlap for dental and medical degree. The guy that works for my wife and does oral surgery for her patients is finishing up his residency right now.
