Default Relocate to CA

Question for all you CA peeps. I'm in NJ right now and my gf is thinking of relocating to CA to work for the gov't. I would be moving too if she went through with it. Is it expensive to live in CA? How is the auto insurance rates? I know I am being vague, but we are still a little shady on the issue.

Also, about how much per month is a one bedroom apt?

Thanks West Coast People

A lot of places in CA are expensive, but there are decent places to live for a reasonable amount, you'll also make more money out here which will help offset the cost of living increase.

Auto insurance should be a little cheaper, I've heard the NJ has one of the highest premiums

Where exactly is your work will pretty much determine where you live. To live comfortably in So Cal in general you need to make at least $2000 a month.

I currently GROSS a bit over 2400/month. Are you quoting gross or net? Thanks. I know my gf would def gross more then 2000. But if she works for gov't she said they would pay for her grad school. Can you guys name the most economical towns/ cities?

Thanks for all your help

Still waiting for an idea of cost for a one bedroom.

Inland the rent is about 600-1000, insurance for my 98 Civic EX is 130/month, and it's bloody hot.

The closer you get to the beach, or the San Diego area everything gets nicer, and a LOT more expensive.
