Windows Media Maker isn't bad at all and is really intuitive. I have spliced together quite a few videos through it.

I switched to Vegas (which can be found through the usual sources for free) which was also very intuitive to me and allowed for more options especially for color correction, green screening, and titling.

if you just want to put clips together, windows movie maker would work pretty easily.

question, how do i change the type of file? i have clips on my phone but they're all .mov files but windows movie maker wont accept them.
