just out of curiousity have any of u bmw drivers been able to fool around with the smg tranny. i kinda wanna just see how it drives. i wish my closest dealer would pick one up or something. cuz i drove a 6sp m3 earlier this week...

Cuz I thought he said since he had polio he didn't have the strength in his leg to press the clutch. But I don't think his M Coupe is an auto. So I figured it was SMG.

 

Nah he has a manual transmission but he wouldn't mind an SMG because his left leg is shorter than his right so it's hard for him to press the clutch pedal.

 

M Coupe is a manual but the clutch isn't so bad. On the M3 it's about 4 times the effort.

As for SMG don't expect it to be smooth like a regular auto. It will be jerkey for around town driving. The full benefit can only be had with agressive cornering/track/autox. It's great you can stack shifts which mean if you are in 4th and you need to be in 2nd after the corner to accelerate out, then you just flip the paddle twice and you will be in 2nd as soon as the speed allows.
