Hard work pays off!!! WOOHOO My turn!!!
I just finished my paralegal training, but I joined the company I'm with in Sept, 2011 as a temp. I was transferred to Full Time Employee faster than anyone else in April 2012, and then a week and a half ago I received a title promotion to Team Lead where I would be given 5 people to manage and would receive manager training from my managers, senior manager, and director (HUGE opportunity for rapid growth). I was told it wouldn't be a monetary increase until I prove myself and they believe in me.
My managers, senior manager, and director are all attached to me and will do anything for me not to leave, and there was another task/title that I was told about possibly coming to fruition. It would be as a data analyst. Here's the kicker...I have no data analyst background...they are training me and bringing me into the world and learning very powerful programs that will allow for future growth and resume building!!!!
Today my manager, senior manager and director pulled me into the office to announce that I am receiving a formal offer from my company for a title change to Data Analyst and receive a 20% pay increase...AND it all starts this Monday! So I don't have to wait until the end of training (could be as much as 6 months).
The other nice thing, is that it would possibly be tied close to the legal department so I could build my skill set to do legal analytics as well. SUPER STOKED!!!! I worked my ASS off to get this, and oooweee does it feel great!

Sweet deal. The opportunity to train in a different area is a major blessing. Most places give you the "you want to be an analyst? You don't have any analyst experience," catch 22 bullshit. Way to go Brian

Reading the first part of your post I thought to myself "making you 'prove' yourself sounds like a sneaky way to give you more work/responsibility without any increase in pay." But sounds like they were legit and came through for you. Good to see that kind of integrity.
