I saw it with my own eyes. Last dyno day at the above place.

This guys eta went from 115hp at the rear wheel to 145!

Everyone went WOAH! (yes like Neo :chuckles: )

more impressive was the torque. it went all the way up to 170ft/lbs!

that was the only mod he had.
WHOA! (yes like Neo) Haha I'm very impressed. Although I kinda figured the chips did something but I wasn't expecting advertised gains but thats crazy. Hah, Alvin is heckka skeptical about the chips.

yeah and you should see that torque curve!

ehhe

i'm not sure if you can feel 30hp gain :rick: maybe you can hehehe

but the eta is a different beast. it's one of the only na car that gets that much hp from a simple chip

Hah, it's more like 15 hp and torque for me. You gonna get one for the M coupe? Well they have that shark injector thing for your car.

Ok ok, I'll believe you guys about the eta. But I still have a hard time accepting the fact that a chip would do much at all for any other otherwise stock naturally aspirated car. Wouldn't a company as reputable as BMW have tuned their engines and tweaked their programs to "perfection" from the factory already? h:

Oh, and the dyno day sounds cool but I don't really have any desire to put my stock d series on there. I can imagine that there should be some awesome cars and neat setups though!

My brother's shop isnt a dyno yet, i think those are the old dyno's. Their new dyno is a smog/performance in ground dyno. Whats cool about it is you can do so much stuff with it, even simulate your 1/4 mile run. you put in the weight of the car, air tempetures and a few other information about the car and stuff and it will simulate your ET's. So get ready guys, who all would be interested in this? location is Albany CA, next to Berkeley.

heheeh well here its why. During the 80's they needed a car that great gas milage.

yep the eta "e" is also known as economy model. :chuckles:

so bmw tuned it for economy. you don't get same results from say an is. maybe 10hp tops but not like 25hp

Oh I think Alvin meant why would a simple chip would do anything for any stock na engine that was engineered from Bmw. He thought Bmw would've tuned their engines and software to perfection or to their full potential directly from the factory.

right but there is a big difference between full fuel efficient potential and full performance potential

there are other factors like cost when mfg tunes the cars but the main reason was for economy

Yeah I was thinking mostly because of cost and fuel efficiency. I think the chip made me get worse gas mileage on my m20. :madfawk:
