Default Recoloring Objects In Photoshop...

I've never been able to recolor things correctly in photoshop, like cars/bikes etc....any tutorials on how to do this correctly, or any help? I know how to use layers etc.

basically create a mask on a new layer, color it, then lower the opacity of the layer with the paint on it

Sometimes you have to make quite a few masks and vary opacity ratings to get good results.

you can also adjust the hue/saturation on some pictures and on some colors.

theres also a few plugins that u can work with...
but john has it right...

heres what id do though...
u basically need a new path on what u need to color...
when ure done...select on the path and go to layer>>new adjustment layer>>>hue/saturation
from there...u can choose to have ur path mask the other layers however u want....
and u can mess around with the hue/saturation to achieve the color that u want...

ive found this to b the most effective way..
why? because when u work with many colors for different paths...u can always come back to the path u made to edit...
its also very accurate...
the hue/saturation is the best way to change the color of the pic without adding layers and layers...
