I'm familiar with it...the East and Southside of Chicago can be ugly, but up North is nice.

yeah, cost of living is high in Cali from what I heard.

I live in the Chicago area, but I live in the west suburbs. As for housing in the city I would say the near northside north and around Michigan Ave. A lot of new condos going up and some have nice views of the lake.

Have any idea what the prices are going for on the new condos?

I'm from the Chicago area too, and if you can swing it, I'd try for a place around Wrigleyville. Its also known as "boys town" so, look out for that. Also Oak Park is pretty nice. Remember that good real estate is gold in Chicago.

Hey your gonna be up by me . Nicest I've seen is the newer development by the west Loop. Either that or by Lincoln Park.

Prices in those area's are $280 (studio size) to over a mill. My sis just bought one by the west loop

I thought boys town was a big Irish neighborhood on the south side? I could be wrong.

My grandma lives in Hyde Park. There's a buncha old buildings up in there but there's also some new townhouse things facing right out onto Lake Michigan...they're like a mil a piece though.
