i change mines when its black h: i end up always telling myself the mileage it was changed at...but i never seem to remember it.

i write down the mileage it was changed at and the date in my owner's manual's maintainence record section. then i reset my odometer and count how many times it rolls over to 3K later.

RB were you using a 6 point socket or 12point socker? the 12point sockets slip thus stripping the bolt head.

Also if you don't have a high quality sockets and driver I would buy one. It makes a big difference on tight bolts/nuts.
