Staph and Strep are different species of bacteria, not different orientations or whatever Z is talking about.

There is some very nasty stuff out there. Several things contribute to the resistant strains deal. Overuse of ABx, people not taking them like they are supposed to, quinolones(like Cipro) tend to induce resistant mutations according to some of the infectious disease guys.

I am not yet in medical school. I am however finished with a Molecular Biology and Biochemistry degree and am elbow deep in some pretty boring research. Currently applying to medical schools.

I don't know about that.

I've seen it in a textbook or on a histology slide whereas he's seen it on someone's foot. It's just that terms and concepts have changed a little bit since he was in undergrad, something I just experienced.

I have a co-worker that is very prone to staph. He gets it at least once a year, or so he says. If you don't catch it early it'll fuck your shit up.
