I'm 27 and I currently pull in 54k as a licensed civil engineer (licensed in California, with about four years of work experience). I'd expect to hit in the neighborhood of 65k in five years. Interestingly enough, the lowest and the highest paid engineers are civil engineers. Civil engineers typically start lower than other engineers (mechanical, electrical, etc.) but generally end up making more than other engineers after about 10 years.
