Discuss. :boink:
I could not possibly agree more.
** Warning: Rant Imminent **

When FB was a simple aggregator for life, it was handy.
People also seemed more genuine back then.
Maybe it was the novelty factor. :hs:

Now, I resent the amount of effort involved to keep my newsfeed free of crap.
It's all "X listened to Herpaderp on Spotify" and "Y checked in at a bar fifteen miles away."

Where is the value?
What insight can be made or gained?
How is any of it, in any way, truly human?

In a few short years, FB has fully conditioned our behavior.
From dawn to dusk, we filter our lives for online consumption.
To project the life we want --rather than the one we're in -- we all become our own PR agents.

To what end, I ask?

It is narcissism, starring as the opiate of the masses.
An immaculate online persona is the ideal.
It's an eminence front, right along with FB itself. :a:

to be honest, i would love to go a week? month? two days? without my iphone or macbook. i honestly don't know how long i could make it though.

i really don't remember what facebook used to be like. i got into a little after it started, when i got to college (when it was only for college kids, i also remember when "everyone" was angry high school kids could join). was there even a news feed? all i remember is messaging girls in the dorm to hang or writing senseless things on my friends' walls.

i really don't put effort into filtering my feed, i like seeing where people are and what they are listening to. i often find myself listening to it myself. i do block any app or game ad, those piss me off.

being our own pr agent? genius, it's exactly what it is and i think i realized this a week or so ago when i saw a pic that said "forgot to check into the gym, now no one knows i worked out, what a waste."

it really made me think how stupid it is and that people honestly do that. i post a status updates every once in a while, usually something stupid, like "i think sweeping my garage is one my favorite things to do", or "silky's momma got one big titty and one little titty and we call that bitch biggie smalls." something to get a laugh out of friends, but it's not that i do it to try to be a comedian or at least come off that way with my "online persona."

i really do like facebook though, it's great to see / share pictures with friends, see where people are, keep in touch with people you certainly never would have (over half my high school class.)

that is all, i typed this with just my right hand, while lying on my couch.

ToD, I block out the people that post everything that goes on about their lives. People should just live a little.
