Default overpaying a fine

do you know if it works? I got fined $40 for my speeding ticket after I went to court. "he doesn't DO traffic school" anyways, too much bad luck recently and I don't think i can afford another ticket on my record....

i once heard that if you pay the fine but if you OVER pay it... like $5 or something, they have to issue you a return check and the case won't ever close and goto the DMV if u never cash that return check.

has anyone done this/! just wanted to know if it works.

it's a myth. once the check is cashed then that case is closed. if you don't cash the check too bad for you.

Been there, done that. This one time I had a $15 parking ticket (those bastards!) and I wrote a check for $15.01 It took them FOREVER to cash it, but they eventually did do it.

Now when I get a ticket, I waste a shit load of tape on the envelope to make me feel better.

Do you mean the case closes when they issue the check (not when you cash it)? That makes sense since they wouldn't care if you cash the check or not. Once they cut the check, the case is closed as far as they're concerned.

So true, my dad works at the DMV and I got one ticket that I didn't tell him about, so I overpayed and guess what he came home with a print out of my record.
