a new axle from pepboys is like $75, and then has a lifetime warranty :dunno:

ok. maybe i'll just change both boots and the axle. but i still need help. :happysad:

it's pretty simple, you just remove the spindle nut i think it's 32mm so you'll prolly have to buy or borrow from autozone a socket that size, you'll also need a puller, to pull the tierod and lower joint apart (or you can use 2 really big hammers ) and that's about it... axle comes out, new one goes in, torque down the tierod bolt, the lower joint bolt, make sure you buy a new spindle nut, and that's it.

For the not so mechanically inclined that's not as easy as it sounds. I had to have a pickle fork to separate teh tie-rod and lower joint apart. Of course I did this at the same time I replaced my rack and pinion and tie-rod ends.

autozone rents a tool called a 'pitman puller' it's free to rent, like $20 down or something, and it fits perfectly over the joints to pull them apart.
