Default job at ups?

i was thinking about applying for a job at ups later on this year after our soccer season is over and i was wondering if anyone here had any experience working for them. i hear the pay is good and that you can basically make your own hours but that its really hard work. Any comments? thanks

UPS isnt a bad job I have been working there since October. There are 3 diffferent shifts that they have, Preload (morning) Twilight (evening 5-10) Night (like 11pm-4am) It is hard at times, alot of lifting but its really not that bad. Decent pay but the benefits are great. Very few places where you can get Full time benefits for Part time work. It does get frustrating at times but I dont know of a job where you dont get frustrated at one time or another

you wont be a delivery person. Its all based on seniority, It takes at least 7 years of P/T work to get to full time. most likely longer.

I dont know of making your own hours, I know that i was hired for the twilight shift so thats when i work. They dont let you switch around except for at certain times of the year

Benefits---- Health, dental, legal counsel for anything lower then a felony i believe

I work there....it's hard work..but a lot of opportunity to advance. It will take a while to become a driver. If you go to school or something, being a part time supervisor isn't bad. They pay decent and they pay for school...which is pretty damn cool. It took me 7 months to become a supervisor FYI. We usually don't fire anybody because turnover is pretty bad for this type of work.

actually, its quite the opposite. if youre in the union, management has to bend over backwards to fire you. my friend unofficially quit about 2 months ago [stopped showing up, but never told them that he quit] and he's still on payroll to this day, and is welcome to come back to work when he wants
