Default this is how much $$ i have...how should i spend

ok if you saw the post about my dad then u should know my situation... otherwise notes below...

18 male living at home, 2 years of college ahead of me, 30 mins away from home...

meaning will be living at home for at least 2 more years with my parents, not havign to pay for food, clothes, etc...

i currently have $4700+ in my bank account with 3 more weeks of work before school which is almost another $1000

i can work if i want 2 days a week when i don't have school which would bring me in about $150 or less a week...

my crx is my baby... some mods im looking to buy soon...

new radaitor $130
mugen wheel n knob $300+
WW Kit $600
CF VIS Hood $450
Paint Job/body work (no rust or dents) $2000+?
Insurance next month for 6 months $700

thats about $4200...

other mods after that may include a swap, racing seats, new exhaust...

Now i could do this...or i could not...but im so confused...i really would like to know if u were in my shoes what u would do...thanks!

well, I've got two things working against me:

1. I didn't turn 15, and couldn't start working until the end of my sophomore year. I've only been working for 2.25 years.

2. I'm not allowed to access my bank account, so I'm forced to allow my parents to pay for things, except for gas+maintenance

I'll have a little over $9k in savings after my next and last big paycheck for the summer, and I don't have any plans on spending more than $2k on the Accord in the long run. The mods that would be done would be fully functional upgrades (nothing on the engine), with only a set of EX sideskirts and a TL-S steering wheel being the only non-functional mods. By the time I'll get a chance to do this, I'll be back from college, 18 yrs old, and will have over $11k in savings. In the next 4 years, I will be putting more money into my Roth-IRA than I would be putting into my Accord.

Even though I don't have any major expenses (thanks to my parents), I still do not want to waste tons of money on a car like you do. My parents did not make me to save my money only to blow it on a car. Your dad knows you better than you do, and he doesn't want to see you blow your savings like this.

I plan on keeping this car thru college, and after college, so I don't want to turn my car into a ricemobile that I'll be embarassed of and want to dump. Can you say that for your car? How long do you plan on keeping it? Three years from now, do you want to be seen driving a 14 yr old CRX with a WW kit? At least in my case, I'll be able to part it out before I sell it 6-8 yrs from now. I may not get a lot of money from those used parts, but returning the car to stock will help bring the trade-in value back up...

99civic you're my hero.

Seriously, it's just a car. Don't put all your money in one thing. That's stupid.

I'm sorry but DoIHaveBDIs you come off as a bit of a brat.

Yeah, my parents haven't bought my clothes since middle school either. But I don't even spend money on clothes anymore...once I've stopped growing, I didn't need new clothes...except the occasional new underwear.

ok... instead of telling you how or what YOU should spend YOUR money on... i'll answer the question asked..... it's obvious that you know what you want to spend your money on and i'm sure you don't want to hear other interweb peeps telling you not to spend money on your car.. so here goes....

new radaitor $130 :bigok: functional

mugen wheel n knob $300+ not in the slightest bit functional and a waste of money IMO

WW Kit $600  same as the wheel and know IMO

CF VIS Hood $450 :bigok: weight reduction is good mmmkay

Paint Job/body work (no rust or dents) $2000+? find a local body shop and ask the guy that runs it if you can help out around the shop and learn the ins and outs of body work. if the guy says no, find another shop.. bondo(or fiberglass resin, whichever you prefer) and sandpaper are fairly inexpensive. the most fun of fixing up a car is doing the work yourself... at least it is for me. having a car that's already prepped for paint sprayed isn't that expensive.

Insurance next month for 6 months $700 :bigok: that's given.....

since it is a 91, you may want to consider either a rebuild or swap of the engine. i'm sure the engine has about a grip of miles on it and if you're planning on keeping it for a long time you're gonna want it to stay reliable. i know it's a honda and honda's are reliable cars, but shit starts happening to cars with a lot of miles.. that's just the nature of the beast.

also.. you didn't list your current mods.... that would help.
