I cannot do off-brand. Also, fuck buying from a place I can't walk in and tell them to take it back due to failure I'm ready to prove. No more. We work hard enough as it is. Might as well skip a lunch or two if it will 'allow' ourselves to 'afford' a better quality of purchase.

If they're anything like Westinghouse, it will fail in a couple years. i had a 20" that I used as a computer monitor go out on my. Took it apart and replaced a hand full of capacitors for around $10 and haven't used it since, but it's in the basement in front of a treadmill.

I'm all for choosing reputable brands. But I have a 40" Samsung that has image retention issues and that I've had to replace some capacitors on after 2 years....Go figure

I had to replace the entire LCD panel in my samsung. Thankfully, it was covered under warranty. My new Sanyo's picture is twice as good as the old samsung.

Regardless, my next tv and the tv after that will be Samsungs. As a whole, samsungs are top notch. I just got a dud.

I've seen multiple Samsung Plasmas have issues (particularly with Red creeping in when the screen has black on it....) - I'm a Panasonic Viera fan, love the quality - have 2 and no issues with either so far.
