Wanna race? Get to the tracks and go auto xing or get SCCA certified and race that way. I love speed and for that reason I joined a race team and get to drive a real race car once in a while, next year I want to save up enough money to get SCCA certified so I can drive professionally on a more regular basis. You can argue that the chances of getting killed on the track is there, but race cars are a lot safer:

1. HANS device
2. Full roll cage
3. Bodies designed to withstand high impact
4. Tracks with tire or foam barriers or gravel traps
5. Crew trained to handle emergencies
6. Controlled environment with no external factors like pedestrians, on coming traffic, etc

Trust me you won't be able to enjoy life if you are maimed or dead.

you guys are looking at your mods as a confidence booster that you can drive faster and safer, when you might not be able to (i dont want to offend you and ive never seen you guys drive, so i dont know how skilled you are). Yea, ok sure I speed, and im sure others do, but i'm doing MAYBE 10 over now (just keeping up with traffic) which doesnt necessarily make it right, but it is safer than racing.

Racing or any kind of competition makes your adrenaline pump really hard, and that can cause for tunnel vision. Cops train long and hard so when they are pusruing at fast speeds they see EVERYTHING.

and how can it be this rush like none other?? a real racer is gonna want to put 110% into racing his car, not having to worry about if another car is gonna jump out of a road or something, or other obstacles in the road. You shouldn't have those distractions if you want to race hard IMO.

and if you want a RUSH like none other, race a dodge viper like i did in skip barber school.. that was like none other. No 4 cylnder can compare to that.

I've been in 5 accidents in my lifetime, none were for racing, but they ALL sucked. losing your car for a couple months while a body shop repairs it humbles you a LOT. but i still didnt learn, i kept messing up.. and it was stupid stuff too, 4 out of the 5 accidents i had were UNDER 30 miles an hour. the 5th was with RiceburninVTEC (i love ya bro, but i have to say this) and he just proved to me that day, that you guys are too confident in your abilities, and you guys aren't mature enough yet to learn from it. as you start spinning out of control, and you see the back end almost clip an innocent drivers car, then you slam into a hill, you see the SKY through the PASSENGER window think youre gonna flip, then spin out and finally stop.... yea.. if that doesnt teach you to take it to a track..nothing will. I wasn't even the driver, and it put me in my place.

sorry for such the long rant, but it needs to be said. You can go on driving and doing what you want, i dont care, when your liscence is suspended or youre making 400 INSURANCE payments everymonth, barley affording the priveledge of driving, then MAYBE just maybe you will learn this.

[edit] oh i drive a PT Cruiser with rims, exhaust and ground effects, a STOCK honda hatchback and eventually a CRX with JDM parts and mild modifications.

it had a pic of his car, then under it it said "streetracing is not a crime" and he repeated it over and over

 

:werd: Who CARES what the mods are for? People here obviously enjoy working on their cars.. making them their own and even setting them ahead the normal stock car. So what? And if the car is being driven.. how are those mods going to waste?

If I had the $$ and could afford the performance mods/swap that I want... I STILL wouldn't street race... I'd hardly even take it down to the track... maybe once or twice just to see what my times were.

Not worth the risk involved... and you're one of those people who won't see how stupid it is... until you kill someone. And if you kill yourself... too late then.

 

There was a horrid accdent on a road near where I worked... Some kid (a known street racer in the area) was flying up this road.. lost control.. and the impact forced his body into the back seat.... his legs still in the front. An old friend of mine went to h.s. with him... and heard of his condition from other friends.


That's a hard lesson learned.

 

I guess I don't have to do much here.....urge to ban rising......hand twitching....

yah, well....I won't ban because a member thinks street racing is something that is "fun"....but yah...I will ban if you keep making threads about this to instigate flames and/or harrass other members
