Who has seen this message before?
I have a dial-up connection. I was trying to connect to the net, and for some reason it was taking a really long time. So I tried to disconnect and try again. It wouldn't let me disconnect (it was still trying to verify name & user), but the window closed. Then, when I tried to connect again, I got a message saying something to the effect of "Cannot disconnect because connection is being used by another computer or system account."
My question: What does that mean? Would my ISP be using my account for some reason? Any ideas?

It happened a couple days ago, and when it finally disconnected I tried again and it worked just fine. I'm just really curious why it told me that a system account was using my connection...:dunno:
Yeah... even though the window closed, Windows hadn't disconnected you yet. It continued to attempt to do so "quietly," in the background. If you opened up Task Manager or whatever your equivilent is, you'd find the modem program still working away, trying to disengage.
Lower the connection speed for the UART chip. It's in the settings. It's, by default, set to 115k, lower it to 57600. It will run smoother. Dial up connections will never hit 56k as it's a theoretical possibility based on the perfect conditions. Line noise will disrupt that, as will attenuation ... hell, even the temperature outside will alter the quality of the lines for a dial up connection. Besides, the FCC only allows 53k connection speeds anyway. Thats why they made broadband technologies.
