Cop question for you all
Lately in calif I've seen quite a few CHP officers on the freeway speeding around...80 90mph with yellow lights on at the back of the light bar. You can't see the lights if you're in front of the cruiser, but when they pass you see em.
Whats the deal with the lights? I've seen CHP put them on when they merge onto the freeway, I've seen them put them on when they just speed up for a bit and then slow down....seen them for every reason BUT pulling people over.
Whats the deal? some new safty thing?

At least they're very bright WHITE. It's the new lo-profile light bars that are clear when off that are a real problem.

 haha. have you seen these new lights though? They are -at best- maybe 3" high and fit tight against the roofline. Very sneaky.
All part of the new plan to snare drunk drivers, I bet. If a driver was buzzing, he'd never see them until it was too late.

cars with ONLY orange lights in the windshields probably aren't traffic cops. supposedly they need at least a red light somewhere in order to pull someone over. it could be one of those community service officers, or it could be a departmental car, not necessarily a squad car. but it can turn the orange lights on if it needs to.
those camero cops are annoying. that is the one thing i'm afraid of now, in terms of CHP. our county sheriff's office has one or two, also... has anyone seen the CHP volvos? there are only a few running around.
