Default The Racecars of Twin Ring Motegi (Sorry 56K'ers)

Well, you saw my SPOON SPORTS thread...these are the other cars at that race event. As promised, I give you...The Cars Of Twin Ring Motegi.

Today's rule: No cars over 2 liters. So you won't see any Skylines, Supras, etc etc. The only cars with a displacement higher than 2 liters was the Land Cruiser and the Fairlady...but they weren't participating in the real race...just the prelims.

Welcome to Honda Motor Company's TWIN RING MOTEGI

This S2000 was just on display...it wasn't racing.

There were over 100 cars...here are just a few.

That's right, these guys were racing a LAND CRUISER!!

The LAND CRUISER's Wheels

Those damn race queens! Always getting in the way of my shots!

For lunch, we ate at a USDM School Bus converted to a Cafe!

To kill time in betwen races..we headed out to the HONDA FAN FUN LAB. It was mostly for kids..but they had this cool Honda Driving Simulator. You can chose almost any Honda and it emulates it pefectly (according to the staff). We also met ASIMO!

ASIMO! The Hondabot!

Let's Drive!

Hey man, you're the lucky one in Osaka. I'd rather be in Osaka than Tokyo. Osaka is where the hardcore racers and tuner shops are. Tokyo is where the rich momma's boy racers dwell.

I guess you do have a little bit of a point. Too bad that when I stumble upon the race shops, the guys there look like they want to kick my ass. BUt the guys at J's racing were pretty damn cool.:goodjob:

But I thought a lot of the companies were based out of Tokyo?

OH shit, you went to J's Racing? My friend who races weekly on the Shutoko and Wangan expressways is out of J's Racing. He's from OSaka, but had to move to Tokyo.

A lot of companies are out of Tokyo, but the huge commercial companies. Osaka has more of the the grassroots companies.

Yeah they guys there were pretty cool. Actually Im pretty cool with the manager, Hisaaki, he hooks it up with the parts. Not a whole lot of parts but its better than nothing.

Oh man, I cannot stand J-Pop. I hear it 24/7! When I get home, I put in some good ole American punk music...I'm happy.

PS. Did you know Utada married some guy 11 years older than her? Yiff! And Ayumi has had more plastic surgeries than MICHAEL JACKSON! (OK, not that many, but she has gone under the knife!)

But if you do like Japanese music, try BRAHMAN and MONGOL800. (punk)

There's the ever famous DAIKOKU-FUTO in Yokohama. All the racers in the Kanagawa and Kanto (Tokyo) region hang out there on Friday nights. Imagine a HUGE parking lot, i mean HUGE lot full of racers. This is the birthplace of the Wangan and Shutoko Highway battle. People go there to choose who they want to run if they don't wanna drive in circles looking for a good match. Let me tell you...TOKYO XTREME RACER is pretty dead-on. That's exactly what highway battles look like...except..more cars.

Saturday nights are for the lowriders and showcars. I do have pictures and I will post them up soon.

There's a few side streets off the Wangan highway where drifters do their thing. The best place in the Tokyo area (but it's not really close to Tokyo) for real mountain drifting is HAKONE. Hakone is the home of Mount Fuji. Haha, no, they don't drift on Mt. Fuji. For people who don't want to make that hour and a half drive out there, a few sidestreets will do.

As far as drag racing....it's pretty much non-existant. It's an American thing.

Yeah last year when I came here I went to check out some racing, it was cool but there werent many cars out at all. I guess it was because world cup was going on and there were a lot of police out. But I did see this guy practicing in his skyline and his buddy practicing in his STI. They both sucked, but it was still the coolest thing I have ever seen:wow:
