ok guys, I lost my workout partner. He is on a different work schedule than me now and works out when I am still at work. I lift mostly dumbells and now afraid to lift what I was lifting on certain exercises without a spotter since I was getting into some bigger weights.

What should I do?

1. lift less weight and have the potenial to be stagnant?

2. do a routine where I use a moderate weight and use that wight for the 4 sets of the exercise and do 4 sets of 10 reps?

Also keep in mind that I really don't need to get any bigger. I want to cut fat and get more definition in my muscles.

Thanks Guys!

for the weights you are affraid to do without a partner, find a machine that you can use that eliminates the need for a spot. This probably means not using free weights for certain workouts, but its better than getting possibly hurt.

or just dont use weights at all
i hate doing weights. pushups and situps works effectively enough. you can get pretty buff from just those workouts without weights

i do have a smith machine and can do my pressing exercises (which are my heavy exercises that I would need a spotter on) but I totally prefer the way dumbells feel. They are so much more natural and have a greater range of motion.
