Default I just saw this commercial last night...

I saw this commercial last night, not sure exactly what organization it was made by, but it made me mad. It was about downloading music, movies, etc. from the internet and how it takes money away from people in the entertainment industry. The one part that pissed me off the most was when Ben Affleck appeared and said something about the people working on the movies need money too. I don't know how much he gets per movie, but it's definately in the millions... now why can't some of his earnings be put towards paying the people who help make the movies? It's not just Ben Affleck, it's all the actors/actresses that are making obscene amounts of money for each movie they make. Keep downloading media people... take this hollywood :madfawk:

the circle of money....if he doesnt get paid what he wants then he doesnt make the movie which employs everyone. But all celebrities are overpaid (atheletes, movies stars etc.)

Here is a little math for you.

An artist makes $0.25 per song on a cd.
Each cd has on average 10 songs so its $2.50.

Take away the 10 months of touring and you'll realize that each cd sold means a lot to a musician. Think of it this way, what if you had to spend 10 months out of a year in a bus going from state to state and county to country away from your family just so they could have a bowl of dinner at the end of the day. You wouldn't survive a minute of it, MTv and VH1 makes the life of a musician seem very glorified but in the end its a battle to make ends meet.

...are all ways of spreading the name and making money. CD sales are actually a small portion of most bigger names that are having their music "stolen". And yes, while the smaller bands do make more of a portion of their total income of CD sales, they aren't the ones worried about the pirating, and most smaller and unknown bands incourage "illegal" sharing of the music they make in order to spread the word about them.

Most real bands hate making videos, heck Metallica waited until the Black album to make their first video and that was 12 years into their career.

Most real bands seldom appear on commercials, lets see have I ever seen the members of Megadeth promoting the latest Gilette product,,, uh no because thats time taken away from recording an album.

Any band that spends time doing videos, commercials, etc isn't really a band because if you think back to the late 70s most people heard of bands like Deep Purple and Led Zep by word of mouth. Screw all that commercial bull crap and learn to play a real instrument and then maybe I'll have a teeny tiny bit of respect for most of the popular bands today.

They make most of their money from radio. I'm tired of the millionaires bitching. Hell they make plenty of money just off of merchandise. Not to mention all the ass they get. Musicians are just like baseball players. I will never go to another ball game or concert unless the tickets are given to me.
