Default interesting idea...

talking to my friend Henry just now. he referred me to a company who claims they can have a 1988-1989 silvia shipped to me for around 3500. thats basically what you would pay for a good 240sx. and they only ship over quality vehicles. and anything 15 years or older is legal in canada. so i could have a ca18det powered silvia for 3500. but you cant leave canadian plates on your car in cali can you? cant i just say im visiting from canada?

Considering you have a Cli license and Cali residency then you would be fined up the ass for fraudulent plates.

Kinda depends.

You would have to have Canuck insurance and it may not cover you in the states.

If you are in a state more than 3 months you are supposed to register residency there and if you are pulled over it is a no license ticket for not updating your license to that state.

Now since you are a Canuckian it may be different. Are you declaring US residency and working in the states? If so then you are not gonna get away so easily with it.

no
if the car is in CA more than 5days or 2 weeks (I don't remember which) you have to register it in CA.

Ask me how I know (stupid chp pulled me over in my friends car on the freaking bay bridge!)

State to state is a bit different than plates from a whole other country.

Locals will notice and after a while the local PD will start tagging you just for kicks.
