Home from work and about to run out and grab some dinner. Later I'll be at my friend's football game since his team is in the championship. Tomorrow will be a cake day and I can begin the long weekend festivities.

Do you mean that you'll have cake because it's colleague's birthday?

I've seriously never heard "a cake day". Heard: "tomorrow will be a piece of cake" or "Tomorrow will be cake" but never "a cake day".
