Hey guys... we're looking to transport a 40gal fish tank... and keep the water.

Any ideas on how to do this?

We thought about using those big water cooler jugs .... but nobody will give us empty ones.... we have to buy them with water :shifty:

when we first moved in we only had a 20gal one, so we just used a big plastic container.... but that was a disaster h:

Home Depot sell 5 gallon buckets with lids.

 

Also the 10 or 15 gallon Gatorade coolers. But that would probably be a lot more expensive than Wiwma's idea.

 

just buy those water jug and dump the water. it's probably going to be the cheapest way. those jug have a 10$ deposit on it too... so once you're done you can just return them and get some money back.

 

Big Rubbermaid tote from Walmart = $5.

Thats what we used the last time... it wasn't very reliable and splashed while we were transporting it....

I'm going to try the buckets from home depot... and return them maybe...

Otherwise we will just buy the water and dump the rest.

 

Kinda flimsy for water.

 

:dunno: I transported a 75 gallon aquarium twice with Rubbermaid. Worked for me!

 

I filled a 18 gallon one with water and that thing was HEAVY and felt like it was about to implode

 

rap the Rubbermaid containers a couple times around with duct tape to give it more support. Also, you only need to save about half the water, you'll stir up a lot of crap and it will just be a good idea anyways.

Five gallon Lowes/HD buckets are best bet.
