Default Rocksmith (XBox, PS3, PC)

Picked this game up on Saturday morning before heading to my brother's house to work.

Played a little Saturday night, a little yesterday, and a little this morning before starting work.

I have to say that I can tell my skills are getting better, but I would be happier with a full electric guitar than an acoustic electric, strings are so much harder with the acoustic.

Pretty much plug any guitar in that has a 1/4" port on it, game works really, really well, dynamic leveling is good, but sometimes a little aggressive for my taste.

Good game overall, and you come away with a skill that can be used, and yes, I played guitar before getting this game, but there is a huge difference between acoustic and electric playing by a lot, so I have a lot to learn on this side of the instrument.

Anyone else pick it up?

Never picked it up, but was curious as to how it worked with those who dabble at playing guitar. I'm probably like yourself Swaggs, have an acoustic and an electric and only rarely have time to pick them up and progress with my skill.

So you were a fan?

I don't have an electric, yet

I have been playing with my acoustic-electric, but the strings are so much harder on it than they are on a full electric guitar. You need a lot more strength with the kind of guitar that I am using, but I may stick it out to build my fingers up. My wife wants an electric as well, but she may not stick with it long, so I don't want to buy another guitar for her that will just sit.

I am a huge fan of the game though. It has so many things, especially for an amateur guitarist that will make you want to practice and also make it fun to do fretboard drills and such. I have been playing for about 2 years now, and am fairly effective with chording in natural positions, but I can already tell that this game will help me improve my craft and become a much better guitarist.

I would recommend the game to about anyone that would want to learn, get better, or just have a fun way for an expert to practice.

I would rate the game a 9.4/10

It seems that the game appeals to the beginner or intermediate player. Not to say that it couldn't help someone experienced with a guitar but not something I would spend the money on. I do like that they have moved into this direction after the decline of the guitar hero/rock band type of games. If a friend buys the game I'll spend a little time with it.

After spending some more time with the game last night and today I can tell my fingers are stretching better and overall more coordination is building up moving between frets and also adding in chords as well to just picking.

One thing I do different is I don't use a pick, I don't when I play acoustic either, and that has seemed to help a lot since I tried using one in the beginning.

The ducks game has helped my fingers get more used to the frets than they have been, especially from 7-15, which I almost never use because it is above my voice range.

I was a medium/hard player depending on the song in Rock Band, but I have 2 songs on Rocksmith that I already have 100% completion on, which means it is exactly like the real thing. Not saying that is an accomplishment because they are easy songs, but that is an upgrade from 4 days ago.

Completed Nirvana "In Bloom" tonight which isn't super hard once you get used to the rhythm, but you still have to move up and down the fretboard a good bit, even if it is just on E and A and some power chords.

I'm interested in getting this game. I have a cheap electric guitar sitting around that somebody gave me and i've used for 5 minutes. i'm gonna wait till the price drops a bit before I pick it up though.
