Wikipedia vandalism
So I looked up the wikipedia entry for Spinosaurus, because one of them made an appearance in Monday's episode of Terra Nova, which I watched on the DVR last night. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinosaurus
Midway down the page, in the size section, there is this quote:
I thought it was pretty funny. I've seen wiki vandalism before, but haven't ever discovered it myself. I guess I have to report it now, eh?
Midway down the page, in the size section, there is this quote:
Reently a Spinosauras was discovered in Yorkshire at a much smaller size of 3m long. The discovery was made in the bathroom of Luke McFadzen and created frenzy amongst Science experts. There have since been many sightings of the rare creature around the region. Mr McFadzen is currently said to be in a state of shock following his rescue by the brave Mark Dodsworth who struck the Dinosaurin the neck. Dr Brown has recently been arrested on suspicion of breedig dangerous animals. It is believed Dr Brown was rearing the Dinosaur in order to conduct an experiment on the nutritional values of the animal. The police have released a warning. STAY IN YOUR HOMES!!!!!!!!
It's mediocre so far, but a lot of good shows have taken a season or two to get their legs under them. I'm a sci-fi and dinos fan, so I'll give any shows that feature them a season-long chance before I give up on them.
Except for V, I only made it through 6 or 8 episodes before the characters incompetence made it impossible for me to watch.

In the mid-2100s, the Earth is polluted and dying. Scientists discover a "rift" in time that allows them to send people back 85 million years into the past. We follow a group of colonists as they go back to the past and attempt to survive/beat out dinos/deal with betrayal in a small colony in a beautiful but harsh landscape. There are hints of bigger picture items coming into play and that all is not what it seems -- the quote "control the past, control the future" has come up a few times -- but they haven't gotten into it yet.
It's got potential, but is definitely uneven and occasionally stupid. I like the 2 main characters a lot, and the effects are generally pretty good (definitely worth watching in HD). But a lot of the characters do dumb things, and there are a number of unrealistic things that have happened so far. So again, has potential and I'll give it a year, because occasionally good series take a while to get their feet under them and I like the premise.
For an example of unrealistic things that have happened -- and you'll love this one spanks -- last night's episode revolved around a meteor that hit near the colony and unleashed an EMP. The EMP knocked out all of the colony's electronics... including their guns. Apparently, in 2149 (or whatever year their future is set in) military firearms use an "electronic firing pin" (direct quote from the show). Why they would take electronic guns back in time, where they have limited manufacturing and repair facilities, rather than ye-olde tried and true mechanical firing pin, is beyond me. Especially if those electronic weapons are susceptible to EMPs which -- as one of the characters mentioned -- are deployed regularly in the future. One of the side characters saves the day with an old-fashioned .357 mag revolver.
