advice needed on roommate

advice needed on roommate
heres the situation:
a "friend" needed a temporary place to stay so a verbal agreement is made for him to stay just until he can find an apartment. the roommate stayed one month and the next month he misses the deadline for the months rent. the roommate was confronted and made up lies on how he can't pay because of something happening at work and screwing up the checks. but we all know he has been hitting the indian casino. after a while the roommate stops showing up. so now its been two months and he basically hasn't showed up again :dunno:
so....the weird thing is that he left all his posessions which is clothes, a pretty sweet sony vaio computer system, some mechanic tools, and a 95 gsr head. all this stuff is prob worth around $1500.
the problem is that he didn't leave any contact numbers so theres no way to communicate. either he's an asshole or maybe he's lying dead in a ditch somewhere
what would be the best and legal thing to do?

Sell his clothes to get a b20 block, sell his tools for a GSR tranny, and use the head for a b20vtec :rick:
