Most sensors in California are magnetic. Weight really has nothing to do with it.

Get a small magnet, put it on your scooter or motorcycle and in most cases the light will recognize you.

In Delaware/New Jersey most of the lights (at night) *were* light sensitive, so yes... I flashed my highbeams and it worked.

So would those be the weird circles that you find on the ground at the edge of the intersections?

usually it's a big box on the ground, kind of a metal frame (maybe 6 x 4 feet) surrounding a normal road section. or so i've always thought.

and i usually do what civichic does, pull up, back, up, back, just out of boredom waiting for it to turn.

all the lights here in town are on timer, so even at 3am, you sit there for 2 mins...or roll through :rick:

I've never seen anyone do this.... I assume it's to simulate it being an emergency vechicle approaching?
