Jesus fish
The Darwin isn't a fish, look at the bottom of it, it has little legs, it showing how animals such as fish developed legs and came on land. The Jesus fish was first, as Jesus performed miracles in which he turned one bread and one fish into many many and saved people from starving.

btw, darwin didn't believe we came from apes. his study was about micro-evolution, not macro-evolution.

people get the impression we evolved from apes due to the scopes monkey trial in 1925 (tennessee vs. john scopes). creationists carried signs that depicted our evolution from from apes which gave the false impression of what darwin's theories were all about...one of the few things i remember from college bio 101.

As for the symbolism....it has to do with the miracle of the fishes and loaves when Jesus fed a large crowd with like 7 loaves of bread and 7 fish or something. Its in the bible I believe in the book of Matthew if I remember right.
But as someone on this board once said, "Jesus fish is rice, hell its not like they have the christ version of the Accord."

Some fish have the Greek letters IXOYE inscribed in it. The Greek word fish—IXOYE—forms the acrostic "Iesous, Christos, Theou, Yios, Soter" or "Jesus, Christ, God's, Son, Savior." And as mentioned before, the fish symbol was used by early Christians to profess their faith and avoid persecution.
