Default Loan savvy people.

I'm debating whether I should refinance my integra loan, it'll go down $100 per month, but here's the kicker... it's under my dad's name, so I would need to do this to build up credit history, which I think he'd be okay with. Now, how long would it take for me to build up enough history to finance about $14k?

I also have good credit, just not enough history. h:

not sure if it would be worth it or if you can get a low interest for that amount...

having said it shouldn't matter if it's under your dad. he would just use the check you get to pay off the loan then sign the car over to you, you pay some tax, etc.

that is assuming you get approved for the loan

My dad would probably cosign to refinance the integra under my name so it goes into my credit history. h:

what is the current rate and how many months are left.

also go to peoplefirst.com and use their calculator to check for refinancing.

usually for refinance/used cars the rate is higher. if you are a member of a credit union check with them first.

You DO NOT want to finance a used car for 5-6 years. Believe me. I'm glad i just got a 3 year loan for my car. I would try to save up for a decent size down payment before refinancing. Then refinance for a pretty short term loan with a good interest rate. Have your dad cosign for you and your golden.
